After a 2009 hiatus...

I'm back to teaching visual communication (Tech Com 420) and that gives me a good excuse to do more blogging! Eva Brumberger and I are also co-editing "Designing Texts," a collection of original articles on teaching visual communication in writing courses. We're currently reviewing drafts of chapters, and hope to have the book out late this year or very early in 2011, depending on the publisher, of course.

Recent developments in vis com: Some excellent publications, that I need to add to my bibliography. Some great new YouTube videos, that I need to add to my list of online resources.

Research-wise, I continue to try to analyze the data from the Visual Communication focus group that I conducted in 2007. I am giving a talk about Accessibility at ATTW in March, with Elizabeth Pass and Jay Gordon. I am presenting an invited talk on my Index Map Evaluation activity for Missouri State STC on April 23. And I'm trying to revise two articles, but face the challenge of contradictory reviewer comments on them both, which is a bit disheartening.

Career-wise, I am awaiting news about my tenure decision which will be official one way or the other by September 1, 2010, I believe.

I look forward to searching for good cases, analyses, and research questions in earnest this year, and welcome comments.
